Phase 2 (Year 1, Year 2 & Year 3) – Phase Leader – Mr Jackson
Phase 2 is an exciting time at Grangetown Primary School as our children grow in confidence, independence and curiosity as learners. Across Years 1, 2 and 3, we provide a rich and engaging curriculum which combines strong foundations in reading, writing and mathematics with a wealth of exciting experiences across the wider curriculum. Our children enjoy becoming scientists through practical investigations, historians exploring the past, geographers discovering the world around them, artists and designers creating and making, musicians performing and composers, and digital learners developing their computing skills. We also make the most of our fantastic outdoor spaces, with opportunities for outdoor learning, practical activities and learning beyond the classroom. Reading remains at the heart of Phase 2, with our Read Write Inc. programme supporting children to become confident, fluent readers while a love of books and stories is nurtured every day. We want our children to be excited about coming to school, inspired by what they learn and proud of what they achieve. Most importantly, Phase 2 is about developing the knowledge, skills, confidence and independence that will prepare every child for the next stage of their learning journey.
